Trey Soccer Update
Trey is now 4 games into the outdoor soccer season. He is playing for the Havre de Grace Earthquakes, coached by Andy Roberts. So far the team is undefeated and we've had some exciting, close matches. The last two games were 3-2 and 2-1 victories, with Trey kicking the game winner in the former, and scoring both goals in the latter. In the last game he kicked an incredible shot; everyone went nuts and Coach Andy said it was the best shot he'd ever seen at this age level (not that I'm proud or anything). Our team had a corner kick and we had the goal box jammed with our players. Trey, who plays half back, was about 22 yards out and was hanging around the perimeter of the 18 yd box. Our wing took the corner and instead of putting it right in front of the goal, he kicked it to Trey who hit it full stride and blasted this shot that went over everyone's head and hit in the far corner of the net. I mean he absolutely drilled it. It was an awesome kick for a little kid to pull off.
The team is starting to gel and some of the more tentative kids are starting to get the confidence go after the ball and not watch the game go by them. The more skilled players are starting to talk to each other and make some nice passes. Hopefully in another month when the Tournament rolls around (get it? rolls around? arf arf), they will be able to fire on all cylinders.
